I have two Corgis who shed profusely year 'round. We've tried various "soft" (i.e. rubber) brushes, but found them all only minimally effective. We've found that the metal "Furminator" really does the trick, but it can be a harsh, especially on sensitive areas. The dog's cower when it comes out, and it's a chore to wrangle them and keep them from darting off mid-brushing. Neither dog will tolerate that brush on their rumps, where their fur is the thickest, for more than a couple strokes. As a result, they didn't get brushed nearly as frequently as they should.
The StripHair For Pets (red version) has been a revelation. While not as effective as the Furminator, it pulls way more loose hair out of their coats than it looks like it should. And it is so gentle, the dogs nudge each other out of the way to be the one getting brushed. There's no protest from them against being brushed on their rumps, haunches, or even bellies. As a result, they are getting brushed far more frequently, and their coats are cleaner.
