Cattleman- "The Gentlemen's Crease"
The most popular, and the classiest crease. Most pre-creased hats come with this shape.
Originated with ranch owners wanting to distinguish themselves from rodeo cowboys, now the crease of choice for many team ropers.
Consists of a deep center crease with one mid-sized crease on each side of the crown. Crown height 4" to 5"
Minick- "Jack of All Trades, Master of None"
This is a variation of the Cattleman crease that originated with Billy Bob Minick, Fort Worth, TX, born legendary cowboy, rodeo producer, stock contractor, and the founder of Billy Bob's Texas, "The World's Largest Honky Tonk".
Consists of one shallow center crease with one small dent on each side of the crown. Crown height 5 1/2"
Brick- "The Canadian Crease"
Adapted from the Cattleman crease but a more square look with "a little off the top".
Consists of a squared middle crease with one mid-sized crease on each side of the crown. Crown height 4 1/4" to 4 1/2"
Walker- "Seen at Train Stations Near You"
Made popular by Ryan Bingham's character, Walker, in the hit television series Yellowstone.
One small dent on each side of the crown, no center crease. Crown height 6"
West Texas Punch- "The Super Puncher Crease"
Worn by cowpunchers, especially in West Texas.
Consists of two large dents, one on each side of the crown. Crown height approximately 6"
Gus- "The Old West Original Crease"
The oldest crease, originating in 1800s Old West when a gentleman would grasp his hat crown to tip it to the ladies.
Named after and made popular by Robert Duvall's character, Augustus McCrae, in Lonesome Dove.
Consists of a dent on each side of the crown following the main center crease, with a sloped crown. Crown height approximately 2 3/4" in the front and increasing in height at the back.
Cool Hand Luke- "The OG Roughie Crease"
Rough stock cowboy style with extra swagger, originated with Professional Bull Riders World Champion Luke Snyder.
Consists of an oval dent in the top with one small dent on each side of the crown. Crown height 5 1/2" to 5 3/4"
Teardrop- "The Pinch Front Crease"
The original classy crease, popular for fedora style hats.
Consists of a deep V-shaped crease on the top of the crown with the center popped up, dimples on each side of the front to allow for easy grasping with one hand. Crown height 4 1/2"
Round
Classic round brim, soft crease, with a gradual drop.
This is a good brim crease to order if you will be creasing yourself but need a guideline.
'J' (George Strait)
Front brim is the same width as the crown. Soft corners, medium side height.
Brim crease of choice for the old school ropers.
Cool Hand Luke
Front brim is the widest of all the brim creases. Square front, low side height.
'U'
Front brim is wide like the Cool Hand Luke but with higher sides and tighter in the back of the brim.
Square front, soft 'U' in the back.
Showmanship
Front brim width is a little inside the crown width. Sharp corners, high and tight sides.
West Texas Punch
Front brim width about a finger's width wider than the crown, tight 'U' in the back.
Straight front, soft corners, tall side height.

Front brim about a finger's width wider than the crown, Straight front, soft corners, medium side height.
