Sometimes called a "cut-tongue" bit because it works well on horses that have a cut tongue. Wide mouthpiece lays over a broad area of the tongue and doesn’t move into cut area as easily. Not a severe bit if used correctly. Curb chain needs to be tight enough so that the mouthpiece doesn’t roll up onto it’s thin side. Best on horses over six years of age because the wide mouthpiece sometimes conflicts with the baby teeth of young horses.
