Our Prairie Bluebell Egger® lays a novel blue egg but produces higher quality eggs than a pure Araucana. This breed was created by crossing Araucanas and White Leghorns, this creates a chicken that lays a large quantity of eggs that have blue shells. The Prairie Bluebell Egger® is an active bird that is very good at foraging. They are lightweight and do not eat as much as larger breeds. Plumage color varies considerably among individuals, so you can count on having a great variety of beautiful color patterns.
**Pick-up for all Ready-to-Lay hens will be on March 29th, 2025 at NRS Feed in Decatur from 8AM - 10AM. At this time, your hen(s) will be 18 weeks old which is when most hens lay their first egg. In their first year, you can expect up to 250 eggs from high-producing, well-fed backyard chickens. We have a limited quantity of Ready-to-Lay hens for purchase and it will be first come, first serve. If your hen is not picked up during scheduled pick-up hours your hen will be forfeited and available for purchase on-site. Email required at checkout.**
