David's Western Store opened for business in February 1989 in Decatur, Texas. David Isham bought a local western store and shortly thereafter moved into the Highway 51 location, which was a renovated Western Auto building. The store operated as the only David's Western Store and Saddle Shop until 1994. In August of 1994, the second store was opened in Granbury, Texas and in October 1997, a third David's Western Store was opened in Weatherford, Texas.
In 1994, NRS (National Roper's Supply) mailed its first NRS catalog after many requests from satisfied customers. Now, NRS has been able to serve its customers from all over the country. The catalog is filled with the latest styles in western fashion and the best tack for horsemen and their horses.
The NRS Training Center and Guest Ranch, located on the NRS Ranch, four miles south of Decatur, is home to team roping, horsemanship, cowboy skills & ranch versatility clinics each year plus weekly ropings and barrel races. The training center has 93,000 square feet to help anyone improve their skill and experience the lifestyle with clinics, lessons and events. Come & stay in the newly built cabins, comfortable bunkhouses or bring your RV to hookup with stalls also available to rent.
The NRS Pro Series Saddle Shop is located only 30 feet from the dirt of the NRS Training Center Arena. Every saddle is built for the best fit and comfort for the rider and the horse. The shop also specializes in other leatherwork including belts, breast collars, knife sheaths and more.
NRS continues to offer everything a person could need to live the western lifestyle through NRS Trailers (2008 and 2013), located just south of Decatur, Texas, has over five acres of in-stock trailers, including living quarters horse trailers, stock trailers, flat beds and much more. There is also a 12-bay service center and a 5,000-square-foot parts and supplies store.
In April 2014, we added NRS Feed to the family. The NRS feed department has something for everyone! It carries Purina and Bluebonnet horse and livestock feeds, as well as top quality coastal, alfalfa, and bermuda hay, pine shavings, Weaver show supplies, dog & cat food, and everything you need to care for your animals at home--from joint supplements to vaccines.
On November 2, 2015, David opened the doors to a dream come true, the NRS Store on the NRS Ranch itself--closing the Decatur town location and bringing it all together, along with NRS Trailers and Arena out on the Ranch. The NRS Ranch Store is not just a place to shop but a destination to visit and experience the Texan western lifestyle. The store sits on one of the highest points in the county, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a picturesque view of miles of beautiful Texas countryside. Take a golf cart out for a spin on the Ranch or go down to see a roping or clinic at the Arena; check out our cabins and bunkhouse placed strategically within the woods. Come for an educational equine lesson in the round pen in front of the feed store, where you can walk around and check out the large variety of ranch equipment. Sit by the fireplace while you enjoy the museum dedicated to the most renowned ropers in the world. In addition, David and NRS partnered with Horseman's Ranch to offer a premier housing development for horse owners in north central Texas's horse country.
