Giving Tuesday at NRS

A Day To Give Back

The concept of Giving Tuesday was created back in 2012, a simple idea turned into a global movement creating a powerful wave of radical generosity. There are over 80 countries that host and celebrate Giving Tuesday, these countries focus on rallying nonprofits, businesses and individuals who are passionate about giving back to their communities. Giving Tuesday is always celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving which directly follows three major shopping days; Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. Known as the giving season kick off day-of-the-year Giving Tuesday allows nonprofits and businesses opportunities to launch end-of-the-year giving campaigns.

NRS is passionate about promoting and supporting young leaders and youth who are involved in the rodeo western lifestyle and agricultural livestock communities. For the past 32 years NRS has been supporting these individuals by giving back to youth rodeos, NHSRA scholarships, County Fairs and local 4H and FFA buying clubs. Last year alone NRS was able to give back $130,000 both in cash, product and gift card donations to national western lifestyle groups. This drive of passion lead NRS to start both a NRS Show Team and a NRS Trailers Team; these selective members are active and positively influence their peers, associations and their local communities. NRS also donates a yearly scholarship to both teams at the end of each year.

Even though NRS gives back all-year-round Giving Tuesday allows the company to make a greater impact both online and in-store by taking a percentage of sales and giving back to organizations within the surrounding communities. This year NRS’s main focus groups are the Hood County Junior Livestock Association (Granbury), Blue Ribbon Club - Wise County Youth Fair (Decatur), Sonny James Equine Ministries (Weatherford) and the 406 Rodeo (Wickenburg). Each of these organizations are within a county that one of our brick and mortar stores is located. NRS has been able to gain both a physical presence and a sentimental fervor within these associations.

Winston Churchill once said “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” The future of both Agriculture and rodeo lies within the hands of our youth. When you buy a product from NRS, you can be sure that you are shopping with a company who supports both rodeo and livestock show families.
